A Bit About Me
Terese Schlachter is an author, video producer, writing coach, instructor and Chief Storyteller at
Ridgeback Communications. She began her career in her hometown of Toledo, Ohio as a reporter at WTVG-TV, botching several live reports before taking her place behind the camera as a producer. Terese market-hopped from Toledo to Louisville to Detroit, becoming an executive producer in Miami before settling in at MSNBC and NBC News in Washington, DC, where she covered politics and other more natural disasters for the network. In 2007 she jumped from Capitol Hill to the Pentagon, spending many days at Walter Reed Army Medical Center covering issues surrounding war-wounded members of the military. She was awarded three Emmys for her documentary coverage of veterans before stepping out with her own company in 2015. Terese’s clients include various veteran service organizations, government agencies, colleges and local school systems. Terese earned an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at the Solstice Program of Lasell University in Boston. She is the author of Finding Waypoints, A Warrior’s Journey Towards Peace and Purpose (2023) and is gently coaching new writers through their memoirs.
She lives with her husband, Jon Coile, and Lillian the Ridgeback dog, along the West River in
beautiful Shady Side, Maryland.
